FreshBooks is built around getting paid. You send an invoice, the client pays by card or bank transfer, and the money lands in your records. If that loop is the center of your week, it does it well, and it has done it for years.
We do none of it. myClerkBook is a private book of account: it keeps a record of what came in and what went out, and it never connects to a bank. So the honest question is which job you are hiring for, and then what each one costs once it does that job.
The number to check first
Read from FreshBooks' own pricing page on 2026-10-12, the Lite plan covers 5 billable clients and Plus covers 50. Premium is unlimited. Their list prices are $23, $43 and $70 a month, and the page currently leads with a first-year offer that brings the three plans to $1, $8.60 and $14 a month. The offer ends, so the list price is the one to plan around.
That 5 matters if you work for several people. A freelancer with six clients is on Plus before the first invoice goes out. Receipt data capture, where the app reads a receipt for you, is not on Lite either. It starts at Plus.
myClerkBook has no client limit, because clients are not what we count. Basic is $5 a month and reads 50 documents a month. Premium is $10 a month, reads 1,000, and keeps up to five separate books.

No login, no aggregator, no read access. Architectural, not a setting.
Stored exactly as entered, converted daily on Premium.
One per entry read from a receipt, invoice or statement, on Premium. 50 a month on Basic.
Each with its own categories, base currency and insights, on Premium.
One last thing, and it applies to every comparison on this blog. myClerkBook is not trying to be the product with the most features on the page. It is trying to be the one that never asks you for something it should not need. If automatic bank import is the thing you want most, buy the product that does it well and ignore everything above. That is a real preference and it deserves a real answer rather than a sales rebuttal.
